11 - Oh, Sleep, Lovely Sleep!

Proverbs 20:
13. If you love sleep, you will end in poverty.
Stay awake, work hard, and there will be plenty to eat!
LB

People you should definitely not be hanging out with are lazy people who love to sleep. People like that often feel the need to turn to thieving and banditry to get by.

That is not God's direction for any person.
We all need to get up and work for our living when each day rolls around!

But there are certain kinds of sleep that have to do with closing our eyes to the reality around us and pretending that things are not how they really are.
Closing your eyes to reality is dangerous.

Has your life taken a downward turn and are you just closing your eyes and going to sleep and letting yourself slip into a direction you know will end in destruction?

Are there things happening with those around you that you are just closing your eyes to?
Are there changes taking place in the lives of those you are responsible for that you're not seeing?

Don't allow the enemy of your soul to put you to sleep in this way. You will end up much the poorer for taking that attitude.

So stay awake, observe the things that are going on around you and ask God to show you how to do something positive about them, and there will be plenty of reward afterwards.

Prayer:
Father, if I have chosen friends that are lazy please forgive me. Help me to rise up out of laziness myself and begin to keep awake and work hard, so that You can direct the reward to me at the right time.
And Father, if there are things I've been closing my eyes to that are happening around me, help me to stay awake and work hard with You to put them right, so that things can turn out right for everyone in my life,
in Jesus' name,
Amen.
